I ordered this after seeing some promising reviews on YouTube, that I ultimately found were by reviewers who had been sent one for free and receive a commission if you buy through their affiliate link. That part doesn’t matter to me, but I think it hides the true scale of problems people have been having with these mowers. I decided to give it a chance anyway. The design, with tracks and actual mower blades, drew me to it. I wasn’t enticed by ones that use the little razor blades.
Purchase was easy enough, and the package arrived in good condition within a few business days. Initial setup was fine, and the mower did a firmware right out of the box. I installed the RTK antenna and base, mapped out my yard, and set it loose. I was impressed with the performance it had mowing. It tracked straight and didn’t miss much of anything. I noticed it didn’t get very close to the perimeter, but after realizing it was a setting for it to do that, it did fine. I was able to do 3/4 zones the first day I had it before it got dark. It mowed and returned to its dock without issue.
The next day after I got home from work, I wanted to fine tune the zones before turning it loose to finish the yard and touch up the areas it did the day prior. It would not link to Bluetooth to allow for driving. I assumed it had timed out or something, so I rebooted the mower, the app, and nothing. Same with the WiFi connection. The user guide does not have much in the way at all for troubleshooting, and you would think the device itself would have more options or data on the screen to help figure out the status or reset. It does not have any of that. Everything must be done through the app. The app is useless if it doesn’t connect.
I combed through the internet and tried everything I came across, with the last suggestion I got to try being to unpair the mower from the app and try to start fresh. DO NOT DO THIS if you ever experience this issue. It likely will not reconnect and customer service will have nothing to go on. Customer service has been lacking at best. I tried contacting Lymow through email, which is the only method available, and finally reached out to TheRoboZone for assistance. They forwarded my info to what I assume was another inbox, with a request to expedite. I then started receiving an average of one email a day on the issue, usually between 1am and 2am. I received a request to chat via WhatsApp and ended up video chatting with someone in China at 2am trying to troubleshoot it. Ultimately they determined there was nothing that could be done, and a couple of days later they sent a return label for an exchange. I am currently waiting on a replacement, and I am hopeful that the new one lives up to expectations. I love the concept of this mower compared to most others, and want to give it a fair chance. But at nearly $3000, this should be a more polished product with traditional customer support. I understand products malfunction, but you don’t have to search very far to find the level of problems customers have with it. There’s no reason to not have a customer service line to support American time zones and to help solve issues more quickly than a week.
